Who's Who
Eric Schmidt, Ph.D; Dr. Schmidt covers over 20 large-, mid-, and small-cap biotechnology stocks. Dr. Schmidt has been recognized in polls conducted by Alpha Magazine, Institutional Investor, Reuters, and The Wall Street Journal. Prior to joining Cowen in 1998 he was a vice president covering the biotechnology sector for UBS Securities. He holds a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Chaim Charytan, MD; Dr. Charytan is Chief of the Renal Division at the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. Dr. Charytan is also Clinical Professor of Medicine at Cornell University College of Medicine. Under the direction of Dr. Charytan, the Trude Weishaupt Memorial Satellite Dialysis Center and the Division of Nephrology annually cares for over 280 (center and home) dialysis patients and many hundreds of patients with pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease. Dr. Charytan's team is at the forefront of research in multiple aspects of dialysis and treatment of chronic kidney disease. Dr. Charytan also has extensive regulatory, legislative and payment coverage experience in nephrology and is former President of the Renal Physicians Association (national) and the ESRD Network of NY (regional).
Anne-Marie Duliege, MD, MS; Dr. Duliege has served as Chief Medical Officer for Affymax since July 2007. From 2004 until 2007, she served as Vice President, Clinical, Medical and Regulatory Affairs for Affymax. Since 1998, Dr. Duliege has also practiced at the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford Univesity Medical Center. From 1992 to 2004, she served in various positions at Chiron Corporation, a biotechnology company, most recently as Senior Medical Director. Dr. Duliege holds an M.D. and M.S. from Paris Medical School and an M.S. from Harvard School of Public Health.
Stephen Fishbane, MD; Dr. Fishbane, is Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Fishbane serves as Chief of Nephrology, Associate Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and Director of End-Stage Renal Disease Research at Winthrop-University Hospital (WUH) in Mineola, NY. He is also Medical Director of Dialysis Network, a group of WUH-affiliated inpatient and outpatient dyalisis centers. Renowned for his studies on end-stage renal disease and dialysis therapy, Dr. Fishbane is also a member of the National Kidney Foundation Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (NKF-KDOQI), which develops guidelines for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Fishbane is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Society of Nephology and Advances in Renal Replacement and is a reviewer of several journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine.
Brian J.G. Pereira, MD; Dr. Pereira joined AMAG Pharmaceuticals as President in November 2005, and was appointed Chief Medical Officer in November 2006. Prior to joining the company, he was President and CEO of New England Health Care Foundation, a physician's group at Tufts Medical Center from 2001 to 2005, and held various positions at Tufts Medical Center from 1993 to 2001. From 2002 to 2004, he served as President of the National Kidney Foundation, and served on the editorial board of twelve scientific journals. Dr. Pereira is a nationally-recognized expert on kidney disease and nephrology, and is the Editor of the widely read textbook Chronic Kidney Disease, Dialysis and Transplantation and has over 200 scientific papers to his credit. He is a Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and at the Sackler School of Biomedical Sciences of Tufts University. Dr. Pereira currently serves on the board of directors of Satellite Health Care Inc., Biodel, Inc., and Tengion Inc., and is the Chairman of the Board of the Harvard-MIT Biomedical Enterprise Program. Dr. Pereira is a graduate of St. John's Medical College, Bangalore, India and has an MBA from the Kellogg Business School, Northwestern University.
